  1. Our TCBC Website is up & running again! Check out the new link to our TCBC Facebook page, and events listed under the Event Calendar.

  2. Our Specialty Show at Houston Farm & Ranch is coming up in March; our Agility Trial will be in May. Check the “Events” page for more details!

  3. The AKC Agility Match went great! Lots of fun! Please ask Robert to share video of his incredible Jumpers run with Zoey!
Also, American Brittany Rescue will be at booth #921 (against the back wall between Agility and Conformation). Please stop by and introduce yourself to some of the rescue volunteers and ask them to join TCBC! If you have any free time, especially on Saturday or Sunday, volunteer at the booth for an hour. It would be a great way to bring in new members. Michelle and Robert stopped by last year and convinced me to join!

    • Thanks to EVERYONE who helped support our Sanctioned A Match; and special thanks to Monica Wilson & to our Judge, Kathy Humphreys. The Match was a solid success!!!
Zoey & I will be sure to stop by the ABR booth at Reliant to show our support (…although Zoey tells me that she doesn’t require any more Brittanys in my house at this time)

  4. Remember to keep your calendars open on July 13th for the College Station AKC Agility Fun Match! Don’t miss out on seeing some awesome agility Britts compete!

    • Yes, and we’ll need TCBC members to volunteer for the various jobs at the Fun Match, such as Timer, Scorekeeper, Ring Steward, Leash Runner, etc. (I learned all of these jobs in 2 minutes at my first Agility event… easy and fun!)

  5. At the April meeting of TCBC, Dr. Corona, DVM, who is attached to St. Frances Animal Hospital & Pet Resort, spoke about arthritis in dogs and its treatment.
The Club also agreed to put on an Agility “fun match” this fall, in order to qualify for a possible TCBC Agility event in 2014!
Any TCBC members who would be interested in helping with an Agility event, please contact club members James Barrett, Robert Power, or Amanda McGavin.

  6. Zoey has had a couple of placements with Scott in Open Gun Dog stakes… (I notice that the other Zoie from Houston has also had a few! Congrats!)
They’re off to Nebraska this weekend; fingers crossed!

  7. The Summer Specialty Show entries will close on July 4th, 2012, according to the Jack Onofrio website…. be sure to get your entries in!

  8. The TCBC Summer Specialty Show at the Reliant Arena will be held Thursday, July 19th. Club VP, Mary Crawford, says it will be sometime around noon… more details to follow soon!
The TCBC Summer Social will be held (again) at Little Woodrow’s on Bellaire Blvd., on Saturday July 21st. We’ll have catered BBQ from Demeris for $10 per plate. (Contact Fred Brooks to RSVP, if at all possible, so we don’t run out of BBQ!)
The TCBC “Dog of the Year” winner will be announced at the Summer Social.

  9. Zoey & I had two great runs in Agility Class at FlashPaws tonight. A Novice Jumpers with Weaves course, in just over 29 seconds! We set the jumps down to 18 inches, since she’s whelping in three weeks…

  10. Club VP Mary Crawford recently reported the results of the TCBC Spring Specialty Show:
Texas Coastal Brittany Club, Specialty Show, Houston, Texas, Friday, March 16, 2012, by Mary Crawford
Our spring specialty show was again held with the Houston Combined Specialty Association shows at the Houston Farm & Ranch Club in Houston, Texas.  The weather was spring-like, breezy and the arena was in great shape.   We sincerely thank our judge and our Brittany friends and supporters for attending this show.
Mrs. Linda Riedel from Pasco, WA did an excellent job of judging her 10 entrants.   During my visit with her, I learned that she has been judging Britts for many years, having judged a large specialty show for Maxwell and Lee Riddle in years past.
She selected Hickory Hill’s Rhythm of the Road as her Winners Dog, bred and owned by Anne & Marla Parchman from Moore, TX.  She selected My Embi Somewhere in Time Stks bred and owned by Tom and Sandy Schrank from Georgetown, TX as her Winners Bitch and Best of Winners.
From the field of 5 champions, Best of Breed was awarded to GCH Dual Lanes Cam JH owned by Christopher and Leslie Robinson and Katherine Sullivan and Best of Opposite Sex was awarded to CH Hickory Hill’s Carried Away bred and owned by Anne and Marla Parchman.
Thank you to all who attended our show especially our ring steward Sandy Faulkner and her assistant Barbara Steele.
AND, we cannot forget our generous trophy donors Steve Hintzel, Fred Brooks, Larry & Patricia Mankin, Robert Power and Jim & Mary Crawford.   Thank you for supporting our show.    Hope to see you in July at the Reliant Center!
