“Happiness is a warm puppy.” – Charles Schultz
Brittanys make GREAT companion dogs… they love nothing more than to spend time with their human family! There are a few things to keep in mind if you’re considering adding a Brittany to your home…
There are always fantastic Brittanys in Foster Care who are waiting for a home; check with American Brittany Rescue or the National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network if you would consider adopting an older dog. (These organizations occasionally have young dogs or puppies, too!) Rescue dogs may already be house-trained, or have other useful skills, and all will arrive neutered and with up-to-date vaccinations.
If you want to take on the challenges of owning a puppy, there are many good Breeders in the area. You’ll find some that we recommend on our Links page. (Please avoid buying a Brittany from a “Big Box” pet store – these are generally animals obtained from “puppy mill” operations)
TCBC strongly encourages every breeder to adhere to the ABC Code of Ethics, and would advise buyers to inquire if the breeder does so before purchasing a puppy.
Our TCBC members may occasionally have puppies available, or know of Brittany owners in the area who may have an upcoming litter. Contact Club VP Mary Crawford, or Robert Power, for information.
Now, if you’ve already found a puppy, you’ve got a very busy year ahead of you! A good all-around information source for new puppy owners can be found here.
