TCBC Specialty Show Recap

Held on July 21, 2021

Our show was held in conjunction with the Houston World Series of Dog Shows in the vast NRG Center building, thankfully in the air conditioning! Due to Covid, conformation was the only event.  Show size this year was smaller than in the past, with 14 entries, and we thank all exhibitors for coming to our specialty show.

Our sweepstakes judge, Mr. Dennis McCoy (North Carolina) had a small but quality entry of 2 young Brittany’s and did a fine job of judging. He selected Trio-Schoenhund’s The World Turned Upside Down as Best in Sweepstakes for owners Fred Beardslee and Clint & Karen Livingston; Labyrinth Shaken Not Stirred went Best of Opposite for owners Alex & Terry Findlay and Karen Hanson.

Mr. David Haddock (Tennessee) judged the regular classes and breed. Our only bitch entry was moved to best of breed competition BUT our entry made a 3-pt. major in dogs! Obi Wan DCAT DM DS AJ took Winners Dog, owned and handled by TCBC member Aziliz Martinez.

Of the 8 Champions in the ring, ChTrio Hope’s Squadron Leader owned by Landon Livingston garnered Best of Breed; CH Dream Hi Outwit Outlast With Zoolo owned by D. Smith, J Smith-Toomey, K Rickard & T Crady-Roche received Best of Opposite Sex.

Select Bitch went to GCh Dogwood Hollow On Point owned by TCBC member Susan Cocetti, Cheryl Mika and Jennifier Burlingame with Select Dog going to GCh Big Oaks Ozark Gettin’ Down To Business owned by Barbara Brannan.

And we must not forget our Junior Showmanship competition judged by Mr. McCoy. Landon Livingston took home the trophy for Best Junior Handler from the Master Class. Full show results can be found by clicking here.

We thank our ring steward and good friend, Deb Edwards, who breeds and shows winning Flat Coated Retrievers and Erin Sneed who came to help also.

Congratulations to all of the TCBC members who participated!

Another Year in the Books!

TCBC Summer Social July 24, 2021

To close out a busy show week, TCBC hosted our annual Summer Social on Saturday, after the Houston World Series of Dog Shows. The event was at Smart Dog Training Center. Fuel Food Truck (owned by TCBC members Jamin and Erin Sneed) provided a dinner and some beautiful cakes.

We had a great time meeting new people, catching up with old friends and celebrating the successes of the Brittanys in our club. Jamin is a superb cook and Erin a great hostess and organizer. Bar-B-Q with all trimmings were fantastic. And we are already looking forward to this next year’s social!

The National Bird Dog Museum

Dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of bird dog, field trial, and hunting traditions, the museum houses a repository of art, photography, and memorabilia about field trials, shooting sports, and over forty breeds of bird dogs, including pointing, flushing, and retrieving breeds. The museum houses the Field Trial Hall of Fame, Sporting Dog Hall of Fame, Retriever Hall of Fame, and the Wildlife Heritage Center. The Field Trial Hall of Fame displays portraits, photographs, personal belongings, and trophies of the most important figures, both human and canine, that have impacted the sports of field trialing and bird hunting.

What it means to TCBC

There is no other place in the country where Brittany history is kept except in the museum.  Revenue is generated solely through donations from supporters. Benefactor participation is vital to the continued operation of the museum.

When we donate to the Brittany Field Trial Hall of Fame, we are not contributing just to field trialing greats in the sport, we are contributing to the preservation of history of the Brittany breed. The museum is a beautiful place if you get the opportunity to visit.

In August 2020, we donated $1,000 making TCBC’s lifetime contribution to the museum $3,600, making us a Gold Donor.

The Brittany Donor Plaque hangs in Brittany Field Trial Hall of Fame for all visitors to see. TCBC (or Brittany earmarked) donations are deposited in the Brittany Endowment Fund. Each year funds are withdrawn to pay our portion of museum expenses. Each breed in the museum pays a portion of these expenses. This is the reason we must keep donations up.

Once our lifetime donation total reaches $5,000 we will be in the Platinum column. As you can see, we would be among the elite!! Mary Crawford conducts an annual photo inventory of everything in our museum. If anyone is interested in seeing photos of portraits of hall of fame dogs & people, old museum pieces and trophies, ABC classic trophies, one of the original iron dogs and much more, she would be happy to give us a demonstration and explain how dogs and people are elected to the Hall of Fame.
